“Understory” Dendritic Agate Cuff
This cuff is part of my Threshold collection, which explores the border between the indoors and the outdoors, with organic textures and botanical patterns abutting human-made designs. Understory refers to the layer of leaf litter under a forest, and also to the stories found below the surface when we think of our favorite and most-worn pieces of jewelry.
A large dendritic agate doublet with an extraordinary pattern is set off center on a very thick, heavy cuff imprinted with dried leaves on the front and an Arts and Crafts pattern on the back. I have given the silver a dark patina and a soft shone.
• The natural dendritic agate has been covered with a dome of clear Himalayan quartz to make a doublet, protecting and enhancing the collector's quality dendritic agate. The stone is 25mm x 17mm.
• The cuff is just under 6” long with a 1” gap, and is slightly adjustable. It can fit a wrist with a circumference of about 6”-7".
• The silver is extremely substantial, about 13 gauge thick, with an 11 gauge square wire bottom rim.
• This piece is made entirely by hand from sterling and fine silver.
