“Twilight Tree” Swivel Story Locket with White River Turquoise

This one-of-a-kind locket tells the story of a lone tree on a hill at twilight. The natural stone is a very rare White River turquoise with an incredible landscape-like matrix, reminiscent of a tree silhouetted against a mosaic twilight sky. Stamps with a moon-like motif surround the stone, with my maker's stamp at the bottom point. I've patterned the back with a light and airy dandelion head (an original design) over an original sunset-inspired medallion drawing. The silver has a patina and a soft matte finish.

• This locket measures approximately 1 1/2” tall by 1 1/8" wide, and is 9/16" thick. 

• The stone is about 18mm in diameter. This unique and rare White River turquoise, also sometimes called Lavender Hubei Variscite, is an undefined mineral (sometimes described as opalized turquoise) that is found near turquoise mines in China. It is an expensive material, difficult to cut and polish, and it is unusual to find a specimen with such a unique pattern and depth of blue color. 

• This locket opens with a swiveling action by swinging out the compartment behind the stone. Please note that the locket does not click closed, but will stay in place due to the pressure of the compartment against the curved underside of the lid. 

• The shape of the compartment is made to hold a photo securely inside, since it is slightly narrower at the top than the bottom. 

• The 18" chain is an oxidized sterling silver 1.8mm reverse rope chain. Other chain lengths and styles are available upon request.

• This piece (excluding the pre-made sterling silver chain) is handmade in my home studio and is crafted from solid sterling and fine silver.
