Koi Pond Story Locket with Fossilized Coral, Ethiopian Opal, and Sapphire
This locket features an exquisitely detailed floral fossilized coral in dark blue-gray tones. Inside is an etched koi fish surrounded by an Ethiopian opal and multicolored sapphires (blue, green-yellow, and orange). On the opposite side is a tension ring to hold a photo. On the back is a faint, subtly antiqued art deco pattern.
This locket tells the story of a beautiful koi pond surrounded by an abundance of flowers. The stone and bezel are covered in blooms, and across from the koi fish is a swirling water pattern. The intricate bail has the same water pattern, with another blue sapphire flush set into a stamped design. I've made the ornate floral detail at the top from fine silver clay using a vintage bronze die.
• This locket pendant measures approximately 1 3/4” tall by 1 1/4" wide, and is 9/16" thick.
• The high quality fossilized agatized coral, expertly cut and polished from natural untreated stone, is about 26mm x 22mm.
• This locket is hinged and latches securely with a tension snap on an inner sleeve. To open, pull firmly apart on the top (opposite the hinge) between the flower and the gold dot.
• The 24" chain is a sterling silver 5.5mm wide oval cable chain commercially made from 22 gauge textured wire. I have added a custom tube-key clasp with my maker's mark on the key handle. If you require a shorter chain, let me know and I can shorten it.
• I have made this piece entirely with sterling silver, fine silver, and a spot of 18k gold.
